complete DENTURES

Full dentures are needed when a patient has lost all of their natural teeth and primarily use suction as a source of retention. Over time the shape of our mouths can change; this can be due to factors such as weight loss or the bone inside the gums shrinking over time. If your denture is frequently breaking, you have lost suction, or you are having difficulty retaining your dentures, it may be time to replace them. If you are unhappy with your current set of dentures, and problems with eating, speech or appearance, Philip is happy to provide a consultation to discuss your concerns.
New dentures are made over approximately four appointments. Our dentures are crafted on-site by our highly skilled team using a combination of traditional techniques and high-quality modern materials.

PARTIAL DENTURES

Partial dentures replace a few missing teeth and usually require manual retention in the form of clasps. Partial dentures can be made from a variety of materials such as acrylic dentures with hand-wrought clasps, chrome cobalt plates and flexible materials.
Clinical technicians require a referral and a statement of oral health from a dentist to make partial dentures. If you don’t have a dentist, Philip works closely with several local surgeons who will be happy to provide this service.

Metal frame dentures

Chrome denture plates are light, thin and robust; they also transmit heat, which enhances the sensations when eating. Chrome plates are suitable for both full and partial dentures. The teeth are attached to the plate with pink acrylic gum work. If you have had problems with dentures frequently fracturing a metal framework may be an option for you to consider.

FLEXIBLE DENTURES

Flexible dentures are usually made from nylon. They are generally very thin and use undercuts in the healthy natural teeth and gums for retention as the material flexes and engages the undercuts. Flexible dentures are most suited to partial dentures where a few teeth need to be replaced.

IMPLANT SUPPORTED DENTURES

Dental implants are small screws which attach firmly into the jawbone. They are usually made from titanium as it is generally very compatible with the human body. They are used to retain and create stability in a denture. A surgeon will place between 2-6 implants to create a stable structure on which to base the denture. Philip has a wealth of experience making implant retained dentures and can recommend several local surgeons if you are considering having implants placed.

Soft lining

Sometimes the structure of your mouth can make tolerating a denture very difficult. Examples of this would be very bony ridges or nerves lying very close to the surface of the mouth. We can make the denture more comfortable by removing the hard acrylic surface and replacing it with a softer material that provides a cushion between the denture and exterior of the mouth.
